BEYOND DOUBT!

BEYOND DOUBT!

A cripple man, lame from his birth, sits in an audience one day where the words he hears arrest his attention. The thought that awakens in him is like rain upon dry soil. All the bitterness, anger and shame that imprisoned him from his earliest memories are challenged. A new, and yet in a strange way, a familiar voice, speaks in his heart. Suddenly faith floods his face; he sees himself included in this message of love, hope and power. The God of the Universe is graphically displayed in the camouflage of frail flesh. His dying on a cross redeemed a humanity fallen from the glory of their original design. This man Jesus, whom he heard various rumours about, represents the whole human race in His life, death and miraculous resurrection! Is it possible that the same Spirit-power that raised Him from the dead can now also restore his feet? ‘He listened to Paul speaking; and Paul, looking intently at him and seeing that he had faith to be made well, said in a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet!” And he jumped up and walked!’ Acts 14:8-10.

While we were on honeymoon at Blydepoort, Mpumalanga [Jan 1979] Lydia and I met an official from Nature Conservation who told us of a fascinating incident: she witnessed the dramatic release of a Black Eagle a few weeks prior to our visit. This eagle had been captive in the Pretoria zoo for ten years. She told us how thrilled they were with excitement and anticipation when the eagle finally arrived in its cage and the gate was opened. But only with difficulty did they eventually succeed to nudge the bird out of its cage. It was one thing to get the bird out of the cage, but how do you get the cage out of the bird? In the mind of this eagle, it was still captive in the Pretoria zoo! Every one was holding their breath, but this once mighty bird remained the pathetic prisoner of an inferior mindset. Nothing changed until much later when another eagle began to call in the area. The eyes of the zoo-eagle immediately lit up, and the next moment she took off in majestic flight to soar in unrestricted space. When you hear the familiar voice, you no longer require flying lessons. The prison doors are open. Hades cannot hold you back. (Greek: ha+ideis, ‘not to see’ imprisoned by the senses.
Faith is to your spirit what your senses are to your body. Faith sees and speaks! Paul preached in such a way, that many believed. Acts 14:1. Whatever holds you captive, crumbles in the light of the love of God, displayed in Christ as in a mirror. ‘And we all, with new understanding, see ourselves in Him as in a mirror; thus we are changed from an inferior mindset to the revealed opinion of our true Origin.'
2 Corinthians 3:18 (Greek: doxa, glory, lit. mindset or opinion) 2 Cor.5:14,16-21.
